First aid is one of those things you need to know - but never want to use.  First aid is the immediate care given to an injured or suddenly ill person.  First aid does not take the place of proper medical treatment.  Rather, it furnishes temporary assistance until the victim receives competent medical care, if needed, or until the chance for recovery without medical care is assured.  Most injuries and illnesses do not require medical care.

Properly applied, first aid may mean the difference between life and death, between a rapid recovery and long hospitalization, or between temporary disability and permanent injury.

The Heartsaver First Aid Course teaches rescuers to effectively recognize and treat emergencies in the critical first minutes until the emergency medical services personnel arrive..

Heartsaver® First Aid Online teaches basic first aid, using a self-paced, Web-based course paired with a skills practice session with an American Heart Association Instructor.

The Heartsaver® First Aid Online Course is for businesses and other entities that want to provide first aid training to their employees or designated first responders. This course presents the cognitive portion (Part 1) online and offers a blended learning solution for organizations that face obstacles implementing classroom-based training.
